On 19 April 2008 after completing the Engine Start and HIT check, the crew initiated the fuel transfer check for the Crashworthy External Fuel System (CEFS) when the Flight Medic noticed liquid coming from the Gust Lock area. The Crew Chief notified the Pilot in Command (PC) of a Fuel leak, and he initiated an Aircraft shutdown. When the PC attempted to start the Auxiliary Power Unit the aircraft caught Fire. The crew exited the aircraft, and the aircraft was consumed by Fire and was destroyed.
