On 7 July 1989 this aircraft was on an NVG training mission when ATC asked the crew to search for a downed aircraft. After the crew located what appeared to be the aircraft location the crew elected to shoot an approach to an area near the site. As the aircraft descended it hit a steel guide wire for a Power Line support Tower. The wire rode up the windshield and tore off the upper Hydraulic Deck Cowling. The aircraft then proceeded to yaw 60 to 90 degrees to the left before the cable snapped. The crew was able to land the aircraft safely. The aircraft was repaired and placed back in service.
