In 1989 the Aircraft was accepted into the Air Force Inventory and assigned to the 210th Air Rescue Squadron (210th ARS) based at Kulis Air National Guard Base (ANGB), Alaska. On 16 March 1992 the Unit was redesignated as the 210th Rescue Squadron (210th RQS). In 1996 the Aircraft was located with the 66th Rescue Squadron (66 RQS) based at Nellis AFB, Nevada. In 2005 the Aircraft was located with the 56th Rescue Squadron (56th RQS) at Naval Air Station (NAS) Keflavik, Iceland. In June 2006 the Aircraft remained with the 56th RQS, but Unit and Aircraft were relocated to RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom. |

On 7 January 2014 at approximately 1805 local time, the aircraft experienced multiple bird strikes when a flock of geese took flight from Cley Marshes. At least three geese penetrated the windscreen, rendering the pilot and co-pilot unconscious, and at least one goose struck the aerial gunner rendering him unconscious. In addition, at least one goose hit the nose of the aircraft, disabling the Trim and Flight Path Stabilization systems. The aircraft impacted the ground with more than a 90-degree bank angle and was destroyed. |
