The Westland demonstrator made its first flight on 1 April 1987 and was used for training and marketing. The aircraft was flown at the 1987 Paris Airshow and the 1988 and 1990 Farnborough Airshows. Without sufficient sales to justify further aircraft development all weapons were removed from the aircraft, and it was sold to Bahrain along with the external stores system.
