On 03 April 1981 this aircraft experienced a loss of tail rotor thrust during take-off. The aircraft was spinning when it hit the ground which resulted in a separation of the left main landing gear and the tail landing gear.
Note: From May 1981 to December 1984 the aircraft appears to have been located with the U.S. Army Transportation School (USATSCH) at Fort Eustis, Virginia. It is assumed that this aircraft remained damaged and was used as a Maintenance Trainer. There appears to be no data available for this aircraft after January of 1984, so it may have been written-off. |
