In September 1980 the Initial Navy evaluation of the RAST (Recovery Assist and Secure Traverse) System was conducted at the Naval Air Engineering Center (NAEC), NAS Lakehurst, New Jersey. On 18 December 1980 the aircraft landed aboard the U.S.S. McInerney (FFG-8) at Mayport, Florida as part of first integrated shipboard testing of the LAMPS MK III weapon system. Aircraft assigned to the Naval Air Test Center (NATC). On 07 January 1981, according to the 1981 Command History Report for the U.S.S. McInerney (FFG-8), Following take-off on the first flight of the day, SH-60 BUN0 161169 experienced Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) malfunctions. The AFCS malfunction forced KINERNEY to return to Mayport, Florida to allow contractor personnel to further troubleshoot the aircraft. Aircraft assigned to the Naval Air Test Center (NATC). Missing information on what happened to this aircraft after the initial testing. The aircraft may be in Hangar Nr. 1 at NAS Lakehurst, New Jersey or it may have been scrapped. |
