Aircraft was accepted into the Army Inventory and assigned to the U.S. Army Aviation Engineering Flight Activity, Edwards Air Force Base, California and designated as a JUH-60A. During its time with USAAEFA the aircraft was used to conduct several Flight Test to include a limited re-evaluation of deficiencies and shortcomings that were identified during artificial and natural icing flight tests in the 1979–1980-time frame. The aircraft was also used along with aircraft 82-23748 to determine airworthiness and flight characteristics of the sixth-year production UH-60A. In September of 1984 the Aircraft was transferred to the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. Aircraft was used to teach engineering and experimental flight test techniques. Arrived with 720.5 flight hours on the airframe. |

In October 2001 the aircraft entered the UH-60M Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) Modification Program. Work began at the Sikorsky Facility in Troy, Alabama. On 17 September 2003 the aircraft’s first flight as a UH-60M Prototype was completed at the Sikorsky Flight Development Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. In December 2005 the aircraft was transferred to U.S. Army Aviation Technical Test Center (USAATTC), Fort Rucker, Alabama for flight testing. In March 2007 the aircraft was re-designated as a UH-60M (prototype M-4), and the Tail Number was changed to 02-26978. In September 2011 the aircraft was spotted at Redstone Air Airfield, Huntsville Alabama with the U.S. Army Aviation Flight Test Directorate (USAAFTD). |
